    In the Meriam-Webster dictionary:
    ice:
2: a substance resembling ice; especially : the solid state of a substance usually found as a gas or liquid <ammonia ice in the rings of Saturn>

Reply to #40:  Exothermic reactions give off heat, meaning the total energy in the substance is reduced. That means the substance either A. becomes cooler, B. has bonds broken, or C. both.

DO NOT add sodium to water

  • #19  visitor17 ~ Nov 17, 2007

Reply to #18:  Baking soda + vinegar precipitates into sodium acetate. Make sure to use waaay more vinegar than baking soda. Strain out the solids, then simply rinse off the leftover vinegar. Bingo. Sodium acetate.

This isn't original at all. First of all, it's not ice, it's just solid NaCH3COO in a different container. Second, many other notable people have done the same thing, eg. Popsci.com. Congratulations on being a tool.
